Training and Leadership

Students are given leadership training in a variety of ways: leadership training afternoon or prefect meetings. They learn how to problem solve, when to ask for help and how to see and encourage good in others.

Students can develop their leadership skills by becoming prefects, sports leaders, peer mentors and taking part in courses such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Sport Leaders courses.

Sports Leadership

Pupils in year 11, 12, 13 have the opportunity to study the Sport Leaders course. This is designed to develop generic leadership skills that can be applied to a variety of sports and/or recreational situations as well as contributing to the personal development of the learner.

Duke of Edinburgh

Pupils in 6th form also have the option of doing the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award to develop their leadership, confidence and independant skills in preparation for life after school.
