There are 77 pupils on the school roll, from a total of 25 LEAs, and they are aged between 11 and 19 years.

In the main school (KS3 and 4) there are 28 teachers (24.4 f.t.e.) including the Headteacher. In the Deaf First and16 Plus Departments there are 7 teachers (5.1 f.t.e). We have very high numbers of qualified Teachers of the Deaf and we provide training for unqualified staff to complete the training. 12 Teachers are themselves deaf.

We have, in addition, a 0.4 teacher for Ethnic Minority Achievement, 15 Teaching Assistants, and Deaf First employs a team of Communication Support Workers for a total of approx. 700 hours per week.

Absences

In the last school year (2006-07): 8.8% sessions were missed through authorised absences. 0.5% sessions were missed through unauthorised absences.

In the last completed term (Summer 2007): 7.6% sessions were missed through authorised absence. 0.8% sessions were missed through unauthorised absence.

Statutory Assessments at age 14

There were 14 pupils in Year 9 classes in 2005 - 2006.

Examinations KS4

There were 20 pupils in Year 11, of whom 15 aged 15, and 5 aged 16 September 2006. Of these 20:

60% were entered for at least 1 GCSE
100% of these achieved at least one pass A*-G
0% achieved 5 passes or more A*-G
100% achieved at least one pass in a vocational examination for which they were entered.

Of the total 20 pupils in Year 11:
English: 13 gained Entry Level qualifications (6 at Level at Level 3, 2 at Level 2, 5 at Level 1).
Maths: 12 gained the Entry Level Certificate (6 at Level 3 and 5 at Level 2, 1 at Level 1).
Science: 13 gained the Entry Level Certificate (11 at Level 3 and 2 at Level 2).
ICT: 19 gained the Entry Level Certificate (15 at Level 3 1 at Level 2, 2 at Level 1)).
DT: 20 gained the Entry Level Certificate (14 at Level 3, 6 at Level 2).
Art & Design: 12 gained GCSE passes (1 at grade A, 2 at grade B, 3 at Grade C, 4 at Grade D and 2 at Grade E); 4 gained the Entry Level Certificate (3 at Level 3 and 1 at Level 2).
Keyboard Skills: 12 passed OCR Initial Text Processing (11 with distinction)
Voc. Education:20 achieved the ASDAN YAS Bronze Challenge Award, 9 Silver Challenge.

Many of our pupils take examinations in years other than Year 11 (i.e. early)

Sign Language: 18 pupils in Year 7 and 4 pupils from Year 8 passed CACDP Level 1.

16 Plus students

10 students on the school's roll completed their courses:
9 passed C&G Adult Literacy (3 at Entry Level 3 and 6 at Entry Level 2);
10 passed C&G Adult Numeracy (2 at Level 2 and 8 at Level 3);
5 students passed the ASDAN Silver Challenge Award.

Deaf First

Deaf First supported 39 deaf students at a range of colleges in South London who took courses in a wide variety of subjects.

Destinations

Of the twenty pupils in Year 11:

Nine chose to progress to the 16 Plus department, two went to local colleges and one to a residential college.

Of the twelve Year 12 students in 16 Plus:

Two remained in 16 Plus, two went to residential colleges, two to local colleges and three went onto further education, supported by Deaf First.

Two students continued at local colleges while one went on to university.
