The Arts at Oak Lodge

Every pupil studies Art and Design in Years 7 - 11 and we expect most pupils to gain a GCSE in the subject. For many years their grades have been excellent. As part of that process we hold an exhibition of Art work in June each year. There are strong links established with London galleries, and groups regularly attend events with Sign Language interpretation facilities.

There are regular drama productions which are extremely popular and are attended by parents, pupils from other schools for deaf children, ex-pupils, friends and professionals from other schools and the council.

We welcome and encourage arts-based projects, with groups of pupils working with external companies, galleries and agencies. In recent years these have included dance projects, photographic workshops, music and drumming, drama workshops, working with deaf artists, etc. There has been at least one such project every year for the past 10 years, and some very exciting work has been done. Please visit the Pupil Art Gallery for photographs of work done.

We enjoy Singing and Signing regularly, and entertain a large group of local senior citizens every year with a musical event.
