Oak Lodge School is a Good School (OFSTED 2016) with an Outstanding residential provision (OFSTED 2019), for students aged 10 -19 who are D/deaf and/or who have speech language and communication needs. There are 15 residential placements (weekly boarding).

Oak Lodge is in the Borough of Wandsworth but takes in students from across London. It is situated near to both Wandsworth and Clapham commons with good transport links. Parking is available on-site.

The school follows a student-centred multi-modal approach to communication. We would like to welcome you to become part of our vibrant and innovative learning community. There is a mandatory requirement for all teachers working at Oak Lodge to have a “Teacher of the Deaf” qualification or be prepared to study for this within three years of taking up the post.

We would like all our staff to be able to communicate by signing. If you do not currently have this skill at BSL Level 2, then the school will assist with training.

Applicants must have excellent sign language skills (minimum qualification BSL Level 2) and experience of working with deaf and/or language impaired children.

Shift hours available are usually between the hours of 7am–9am and 3pm–10.30pm. There may be some sleep – in duties available. We are looking for a Casual Residential Worker who has excellent communication skills, with a good knowledge of D/deafness, communication difficulties, positive behaviour management and additional health and educational needs. Experience of personal care support is preferable.

WAKING NIGHT OFFICER

Phoenix House Residential Service forms an integral part of the school. We provide accommodation for a maximum of fifteen young people aged 11 -19 years.

Phoenix House is looking for a Waking Night Officer to provide overnight support for students with a wide range of needs and communication methods. The students reside in Phoenix House for 1-4 nights a week and this role requires the person to stay awake to support students overnight Monday-Thursday. The Waking Night Officer will also be required to support students with getting up and ready for school including support with breakfast from 7am until 8.30am.

A working day usually falls between the hours of 10.30pm – 8.30am. We are looking for a Waking Night Officer that has excellent communication skills, with a good knowledge of d/Deafness, communication difficulties, challenging behaviour and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
